The Coat Guide

For me, winter fashion sums up in one main piece: coats. When colder days appear, fashion lines and collections take out their most beautiful sets of winter coats for every style. Living in a tropical-weather country, as myself, might be a downfall for a coat lover, but also one of the best reasons to travel north for the Holidays. Packing or shopping for winter coats is one of the most exciting yet challenging activities during this time of the year. So, to show my true love and compassion, I'm sharing my favorite coat options for every style.

Classic Coat
1. The classic coat is the easiest to wear. Multiple combinations can come out of this traditional take on the season clothing. This classic coat from Modcloth is one of my favorites. I love the color and texture of both fabrics, and the buttons' detail gives the piece an elegant view that makes it appropriate for any low-temperature occasion. Wearing it with skinny jeans and black boots would be a great idea, in my opinion.

Military Inspired

2. For a different, more casual look opt for a military inspiredThis one from Chicnova is perfect for the style. The color and fabric make it, again, very versatile for different events. Combining it with black jeans and leather boots would completely make the look.

Trench Coat
3. The trench coat is the traditional London-style look, perfect for cold, rainy days. The look would be complete with brown, flat boots or rain boots in case the weather really demands it. This trench coat from The Outnet is the typical idea of the trench that every coat lover should own.

Bohemian Look
4. For an earthier, boho-ish style, this  Duffle coat from Topshop is ideal. The color is super easy to style and the add-in hoodie can be very practical for winter's unpredictable weather. Pairing it with ankle booties and lighter trousers would complement the bohemian look. I personally love how casual or very formal it may look depending on the rest of the outfit. One of my favorites, no doubt.

Vintage Inspired
5. Vintage inspired clothing can be amazingly fashion-forward, and this coat from Modcloth is the perfect example. This Sherlock Holmes-y coat would be perfectly paired with brown/dark trousers and oxford shoes or loafers. I just love the colors and the feminine detail of the coat, and would definitely love to include this in my winter clothing collection.

Peplum Detail

6. Last, but very not least, the peplum-detailed coat is perfect for girly, feminine and elegant styles. This peplum coat from Moschino might be a real splurge, but it's just an example of how pretty and classy a coat can be by adding simple details such as flair fabric and golden buttons. Best worn with warm flats or heeled boots. I'm really leaning towards this Waldorf-like winter piece.

What's your favorite coat option for this winter?
