How To Look Better in Photos

look great in photos

Before even starting, know that being photogenic is not completely related to good genes, but rather a skill that can be learned and improved. Especially nowadays when everyone's photo-obsessed, knowing how to pose comes quite handy, because like it or not, your in-person beauty not always translates on camera. Here are some tips I gathered from experts on how to look great in every snap...

1. When standing, place your hip at a 45-degree angle to the camera to make your waistline look slimmer. Also, don't face the camera straight on. Instead, slightly turn your head to your better side to give depth to your features.

2. Make the photographer take the picture from above instead of below. Shooting from below is usually very unflattering, so make sure the picture is taken at eye level or above to make all of your features appear slimmer.

3. Make your arms looks slimmer by placing one hand on your hip instead of pressing both arms against your torso.

4. Right before being photographed, look directly into a bright light to make your pupils shrink and avoid red eye. Also, don't stand directly under a light to avoid unflattering shadows. Instead, look for diffused or natural light.

5. Avoid a double chin by elongating your neck and pushing your face forward a bit.

6. Lastly, take a look at your best pictures of yourself and try to imitate the pose. Whether it's the angle, the smile or the lightning, try replicating the pattern you see in your favorite pictures.

Happy posing!
